“Thanks for the follow up with jacks. We have installed a set on our Off road Caravan and love the push button process to level also the added benefit of caravan being very stable with jacks down. We love the way the flip system gives us greater ground clearance”

Specifications

Caravans in Australia can come in many different weights, heights and configurations. When selecting a Redfoot levelling system for your caravan it is important to know the GTM (Gross Trailer Mass) of your van. We have used the caravans maximum GTM weight as a guide for selecting each of our Redfoot levelling systems. It is very important to follow this guide as each levelling system is not designed to lift beyond the recommended GTM capacity.

When measuring the underfloor the ground clearance it is advised to measure the selected location positions as shown in the diagram below. These location positions are important as they will provide the most travel clearance and departure clearance when in transit.

Most caravans in Australia are built with 4″, 5″ or 6″ RHS chassis rails and can accommodate the direct affixing of our solutions. We recommend drilling through and the chassis in most installations. Our levelling systems provide bolt on style brackets to attach to the pre-drilled chassis rail.

Choosing the Redfoot Flip Remote Jack Levelling system is as easy as 1,2,3,4.

Step 1. Determine the size and type of chassis rail. E.g. 6″ or 150mm RHS

Step 2. Confirm and measure the underfloor to ground clearance behind the rear axle as shown in the diagram below. If your measurement is above 640 mm you will be able to install with the minimal clearance as shown in the Simulated Flip Leg Cylinder diagram. If the measurement is below the 640 mm then the van suspension will need to be raised to meet this height or does not qualify. * A provision for retrofitting can be achieved on some lower caravans by cutting through the floor to affix the jack cylinders. This solution would require a experienced installer or service workshop.

Step 3. By reviewing the location positions in the diagram below look at where you could potentially locate the jack cylinders. Jacks can be mounted inside or out side the chassis rails and in some installs you may require the relocation of storage tanks, plumbing pipes etc.. .

Step 4. Now compile your results from steps 1, 2 and 3 and confirm the results as qualified.  Contact us if you require if you have any further questions.

Installation

Investing in a Redfoot Flip Remote Levelling system will bring years of added enjoyment and improved lifestyle with your Caravan. The system prices are set out above. In addition to the system prices will be freight and that depends on where you live but generally ranges between $80 to $120. The Redfoot systems are delivered in environmentally friendly packaging that is boxed an placed on a skid (half pallet). This ensures every system is well protected during shipping.

The Redfoot systems can be DIY installed provided there is a good level of mechanical skills available, and access to a mechanical workshop with suitable hoists. We provide a comprehensive installation manual.

We recommend the installation is done by one of our approved installers. Not all installations are the same so a solid level of mechanical knowledge is required. Installation costs range from $1,200 at the low end and up to $2,000 at the high end. The reason they have a range is firstly because different installer have different cost structures, e.g. Sydney costsrent versus say more country areas where costs can be lower. Secondly, not all installations are the same. For example the location of the hydraulic pump. Normally the pump is located in a storage compartment, however if the owner does not want the pump in a storage compartment then it can be located under the chassis. This will require extra work to build a protective box and accordingly lead to extra cost. Best thing is to talk with your installer about the installation cost.
